Even then it's an unhealthy, occasional treat but not something I'd want to have regularly.
Here's a trip down memory lane - the best donuts I can recall were the fresh hot cinnamon ones from Castle Plaza back in the days of the Arrow Supermarket and the Redapple Restaurant. For hours I'd just stare at the machine plopping out lumps of dough into the hot oil, then travelling along the conveyor belt and into the rotating tray of cinnamon and sugar.
