Why Mono is now opposed to developments over 15 floors high
I you watch the news tonight or look here...
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008 ... 265778.htm
Today I came home early from work, after spending some time waiting in our emergency evac assembly point. There was an environmental services emergency this morning, the sewerage system had a blockage and decided to overflow on level 11 (it's not as bad as I bet the commercial news will make out - just a heath issue).
This meant that we had to enact our efficient and orderly evac programme. It all went well, except that it means we have to go down several flights of stairs, 34 in my case. My legs are sore. I need more exercise obviously.
So no more buildings above 15 floors, for umm... safety issues

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

If this is how much you complain about going DOWN stairs I'd hate to hear you complaining about going UP them instead!
(FWIW, I work on the top floor of a 4 storey building with no elevators)

We're really pressed for room, plus it's a heritage listed building. Going up and down the stairs a few times a day isn't really an issue - keeps the blood circulating - and most of us work harder than that in the gymwilkiebarkid wrote:Tell the building owners to contact OTIS!
We do ask the bosses for a fireman pole every year though

I regularly go up and down 2 levels via the stairs as my section is on several levels. So I don't mind stairs it's just after 34 flights relatively quickly my legs started getting tired.Bulldozer wrote:If this is how much you complain about going DOWN stairs I'd hate to hear you complaining about going UP them instead!

Going UP? yes that would kill me probably. I'm SO unfit.
