Public Sector Week 2009

#1 Post by sam » Sun Nov 01, 2009 3:32 pm

I missed Public Sector Week 2008 last year as I was too busy and found out about it too late.

But here it is happening again:

One thing I particularly want to go to is:
What a Star! SA Water's New 6 Green Star House - http://www.espi.sa.gov.au/psw/tours.php?id=2
You'll find me one of the sessions, which one yet I haven't decided.

State Rescue Helicopters on show

Get up close and personal with South Australia's MAC Rescue Helicopters during
Public Sector Week.

From emergency medical retrievals to search and rescue operations, high speed
criminal pursuits, and bushfire management operations, the helicopters provide
an important, and often life-saving service.

On Thursday, 26 November at 2pm - 4pm at the Torrens Parade Ground you can see
the MAC Rescue Helicopters, talk with emergency services personnel and observe a
mock rescue in action.

Desert Sounds in Victoria Square (Tarndanyangga) this Thursday

FREE LUNCH TIME CONCERT

THURSDAY 26th NOVEMBER
12pm - 2pm

Bring your friends and family along to this free event to see the Iwantja Band
from Indulkana, on the APY Lands.

The band, which plays in the genres of rock, reggae, blues, folk and fusion, is
performing as part of Public Sector Week celebrations, supported by the Office
of Consumer and Business Affairs (OCBA), Service SA, the Aboriginal Affairs and
Reconciliation Division of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the
Department for Families and Communities.

The Iwantja Band composed a song for OCBA's Talk about Shopping audio project,
which empowers Aboriginal people living on the APY Lands with an understanding
about their consumer rights.
In recent years, the band has been performing at festivals and concerts across
Australia to wide acclaim. Iwantja Band is also part of the line-up for the 2009
Spirit Festival at Elder Park on 12-13 December.
