photorealistic 3D modeling service for Adelaide

#1 Post by Fabrice » Thu Nov 01, 2012 9:26 am

Hi All,

I'm not sure in which section I should post this so I hope the Pub is the right place to start.
We've just launched a new photo-realistic 3D modeling service for urban and natural environment in Adelaide called aero3Dpro and I would like to hear any feedback/ideas regarding the potential use of this technology to support development, urban planning and real-estate in Adelaide and surrounding area.

The following trailer gives you an idea of the quality of the data and coverage you can expect.

This is the link to our new website:

This is the link to our latest article in Adelaide Now:

Thanks in advance.

Wow, that is very impressive.

I was originally amazed by the demos of C3 Technologies' maps (which of course later became the basis of Apple's 3D maps), but the level of detail here looks much much higher.
Obviously there is some good uses for it in urban planning and development (much like the 3D city model the council had developed). Are there any plans to licence the data for consumer maps, or are you strictly looking at commercial uses?

Thanks for your feedback,

It is very early stage in the products and services life-cycle (we launched the service last week) and for now it will be only for commercial uses.

Talking about Apple C3, someone wrote this article a few days ago:

Adelaide City Council use a 3D model to help with assessing development proposals. See here. Perhaps you could approach them with the goal of using your technology in place, or in addition to, their current approach.

This is insanely awesome stuff! I've shared it with a few people at work. :)

Hi Wayno,

We did approach the Adelaide city council. Waiting to hear from them.

Shuz, thanks a lot for sharing. May I ask in which field are you working on? How do you see these models to be used for?

impressive. just thinking out loud, there may be a modest market in real estate advertising for top end house sales. Not sure if economical though...

Good work!
I've been following the developments of Euclideon for a few years now so I'm glad to see they sourced a buyer even at this early stage of their software, and I am proud that it was by none other than a local Adelaide group such as yourselves. The demo was impressive and I can't wait to see the application of this software.
I watched your flood footage with amusement. I know a few people working within the Flinders Disaster Research Center, with a personal interest in disaster medicine and preparedness myself. Usually they tend to focus on the health angle but it'd be interesting to see if they might be interested in widening their scope a little and looking at applications for your program.

Check out our latest video focused on how we can support urban planners, new building developers and architects in Adelaide and Australia in general.
Had some fun adding some 3D buildings around Adelaide Uni. You'll notice that the data to generate this 3D Adelaide city model has been acquired a few days before the Christmas pageant.
