I can't post up a render of this yet, as it's probably not in the public domain at the moment but i'll try to describe it. It'll be opposite the supreme courts on gouger street, and is a post-modern style glass building with large open floor spaces and what looks like an outdoor conservatory on the top floor. It absolutely towers over central market when you consider the height of it's surrounding buildings... and i can say it's pretty outstanding architecture. if it goes ahead this will brighten up this low-rise undeveloped area of the cbd.

:)

Updated with renders (thanks Al):

So, do we know any more on this?? Is it still going ahead, because that side of town needs some bulk. So if it does go ahead, and we get the rumoured 18 level office tower at the Tram Barn site, the CBD will officially be bulked up and extended south!

I'm not sure if this is going ahead... Al would prol know more about it than I would. But from the looks of it, it meets regulations. Hopefully this won't sit on the shelf for too long, the sites all ready to go :)

Estimated cost of Tram Barn redevelopment is only $5 million, so I don't think we'll be getting that 18 storey building we hoped for!

Yeah, didn't see that, even if we only get the 8 level jobbie here, combine that with the 5 Eastwest towers, Bentham and the 5 or so City Central towers, viewed from the south the skyline will be pretty impressive!

Al's post on SSF

[QUOTE=Al]Some pics of the proposed office building on the old Creche site on Gouger street. I thought this was dead but it looks like it's still under consideration.

Shuzstar/redstar... the guys on here do have a sense of humour, but let's try to keep this a mature discussion and leave it for other parts of the forum such as Speak Your Mind.

This development is not dead as we had believed!

A new DA has been lodged with the council to alter the previously approved building. The proposed residential component has been deleted and the new building will be purely commercial office accomodation.

It remains at 8 levels.

Brilliant. Can't wait to see it filled.
