uh i know i know! did ppl not read my previous posts? im talking about ONE block because I think it is in prime location on the edge of Victoria Square, when did i ever mention the whole Gouger st be lined with high rise!?! i'd be pissed if all those cafes/restaurants had high rises behind em.

I agree with Zender, when the crane was first errected to build the SA water building i thought to my self straight away that something of that monumental height (being the crane of course) would have an incredible impact on Victoria Square. First impressions put a shiver down my spine. Vic Square can handle our tallest buildings it has the space to observe them and appreciate them aesthetically unlike Pirie street. Although i like Pirie Street for what it is and may become.

urban wrote: Pirie St has the biggest proportion of tall buildings in Adelaide. It is also one of the least enjoyable streets in Adelaide. This is not a coincidence.
That's more a consequence of the poor streetscape, and the design and purpose of the buildings there, than the fact that they are tall.

Agree with that. Collins St is one of the best streets to walk up/down in Australia and it's littered with much taller buildings than those on Pirie St.

Thanks for the photos Urban. I really love the first one. Hopefully the 4 cranes can remain for a while longer, to give that 'progress' look to that part of the city.

From what I could see, the crane is totally up now. Will look awesome with 4 cranes up. If the cranes for VS1 stay up long enough, if you get the right angle, potentially in the not to distant future you could get 8 cranes in one shot (2 VS1, 1 lot 8, 1 Thomson, 1 CoH, 2 20 Hindmarsh and 1 at Aurora on Pirie!)

Not to mention Tivoli and Octagon. Could have ten cranes in all - 8 was the max. I ever counted in the eighties bldg boom :D :D (Did this every day coming home from Blackfriars College in Prospect0.It's all happening - and provided the economy holds concerning the sub prime scenario in the US we will see even more. Excellent to see economic confidence in Adelaide.

Just went down to china town for some food and saw the crane for this development and coglin place, pretty sweet as it gives the area a sort of busyness/developing feel :D . Haven' felt that way about adelaide for a long time 8)

Found an updated render:

This will be a good addition to that area even if it is shorter than desired

Gotta love how the slightly exaggerated perspective of the render makes it appear taller than it actually is.

Will still be a good addition to that area nonetheless, especially with the Coglin Street building right beside it. Wouldn't really call them "towers" though... isn't that title usually reserved for high-rise? Well, I guess these buildings just qualify for that classification, but still...

Yeah the exaggerated perspective make it nearly impossible for me to work with in sketchup. By the way, nice find pistol!

If it helps, the building will be 29.8m tall.
