I haven't seen the specs for this building so I can only assume that will be DigiGlass or something similar, like the Rupert Murdoch building in Waymouth Street.

Cheers

At the ACC DAP meeting which will be held next Monday, the development officers have made the recommendation for the panel to grant planning approval to this building.

The good news is that there have been amendments to the Wakefield Street façade which are designed to add greater visual interest to the building.

My initial optimism regarding the change of design to the façade was short lived. The new design has eliminated the distinctive yellow pods, whilst also, Santos HQ style red bars have been added to the first 3 levels. Although hard to believe, the architects have well and trully made a bland design, hideous.

I'd say it's more the developer counting dollars mate. Architects would be otherwise reluctant to dumb down their work.

I hate the regularity with which it's happening.

The title of this thread should now be changed to APPROVED.

From the ACC:
Meantime, the Council’s DAP has also approved a $40 million proposal to construct a 10-storey office and car park building at the corner of Wakefield Street and Roper Street in the City.

The development involves office space (with a commitment from the applicant to achieve a 5-star green rating for this component), a multi-level car park with more than 580 parking spaces, and the provision of around 80 bicycle parks and lockers on the ground level.

Excellent. This will modernise that area by a large degree, and add some height there.

Says construction will commence in March next year and be finished mid 2009.

2008 is going to be a massive year for CBD construction.
