I don't like the little spire thingy they got going on with the second vertical column from the left. It looks nasty as hell.

I know this might seem like a silly question... but what is happening to the old Tivoli? Wasn't it a pub before?

in that render no power lines are seen there also

power lines just totally destroy the cities appeal and street beauty. It is such a distraction!

the power lines in the city should all be moved into the ground where they belong

I think eventually they will all go underground in the city. The problem is finding the money for all the powerlines.

The ACC has a long term plan to underground all powerlines in the CBD and North Adelaide.

Continuing on the diversion a moment. Just think, it is so much better than the days when each post would have 12 - 15 crossbars and carry hoards of wires along the street. Intersections were a fantastic display - especially with grand tram intersection double crossovers added in.

Yes, power lines are a blight. They do belong in the ground. They do detract from the better appearance of buildings. But in a strange kind of way, they add to the busyness of the city atmosphere.

Next step is for a new roof on the Tiv.

Why would they replace the Tiv's roof? It's all nice and shiny from being re-ironed a few years ago isn't it?

You are correct, however I was thinking about heat from the roof being reflected back onto the lower apartments. Bare (silver) sheetmetal is great for reflecting heat. I'm not sure what the story will be here.

(Where there's women involved) are you sure it is going to be free...

Very good point, solution: knock down the Tiv and replace it with a building that has both aesthetic appeal as well as being a decent pub. ;) I've always hated that box of a building. Edit: actually it's an east/west facing roof so the reflection might not be a problem.

In that place nothing is free. It's a 2 drink minimum just to walk past their footpath... That's another building in that area that should be knocked down. Horrid inside and out.
