Just wondering if this has been mentioned before?
It is proposed to construct a 10 storey apartment complex comprising 24 apartments and 2 levels of car parking on this site at 261-269 Pirie Street. The character of the former Tivoli Hotel building is to be retained.

It was originally proposed at 7 levels, had no idea it was up to 10 now!

We had a long discussion about it once on SSC. Many of us cried into our beers about the loss of another live music venue. Retain the character my arse, the front hotel is being converted into some sort of restaurant :(

I'll reserve judgement on this until I see a final render, but i'm seriously worried at the trend for pubs becoming wankified.

This contains the original drawings and some more info. Height of the building is just under 30m.

2005/09/05 ... did that just go up today chris??

Yep looks like it's still a 7-8 level building as opposed to 10 level.... although it's a nice little apartment building, personally i wouldn't mind living in there.

The reason for the date of today is that this will be put in front of the Development Assessment Panel tonight. You can even go if you want, it's at the Town Hall at about 5:30 ;)

Note that the sketches at the very end of the document are for the old proposal, a few pages in is the newer stuff.

The ACC development assessment panel has approved this development.

The height of the building will be 31.2m

Here's a render for this development. If this a case of maintaining heritage at all costs? It just seems weird that the entrance to this apartment is through an old building. Unless of course, I've got the whole thing wrong and that old building is completely independant.

Great find Al!

I really like the colour scheme of the building, it will be a great addition of modernity to that part of the city.

Any news on when construction will start?
