Feel free to post it on SSC. I hear that the Adelaide forum on SSC is quite dead, so it is good in a way to show outsiders that there is relatively plenty of movement in Adelaide.

I forgot to mention this previously, but it appears that this one is relatively advanced in its plnning, as Baulderstone Hornibrook has already been chosen as the construction company.

I am confused, is this the building that was speculated about being opposite SkyCity?

Ahhhhh. Last night, I was under the impression that it was going to be adjacent the Skycity casino to the east (like right next to Parliament House) and hence why I questioned shadowing issues. But seeing as its to the north of the casino, there should be no problem for concern. Looks good.

I like it... Good to see that it is going to be taller than Roma Mitchell - so that would put it in the vicinity of 55-60m. Not bad for that area.

However, does each new proposal have to be student accommodation?

Not all new proposals have been for student accomodation.

Though whats wrong with so many student apartment buildings?, they bring life to the city.

I'm happy you mentioned this, because I was just thinking to myself how this part of the city will become much more vibrant after a few years. First we had the tram extension and the recently re-developed UV student apartments (old old AMP Building), and in a few years we will have both the CML Building and the old Westpac Building being converted into hotels, and the completion of Octagon Apartments. In addition, this development, which will introduce an extra 460 people into the city. Not to mention any future redevelopemnt of LC House.

This project certainly has a lot of appeal. Will bring in much potential life to the city. A threshold point will be reached where the population will act as a 'sudden' catelyst or trigger due to it being big enough to bring in associated business ventures as well - that is when the life really starts.

Quite a prominant bldg from the station perspective too - good to see.

Is the old AMP bldg (Nw corner of KWS and Nth.Tce) 18 floors as well. If so there is a large height difference between that and the two bldgs. suggesting floor plates are much closer in the new project.

As one of the north-south laneways with the most potential for redevelopment in the way of James Place or the laneways of Melbourne, I'd be interested to see the impact this building will have on Bank St. Fortunately, the renders do appear to have retail/commercial tenancies, and the height and design of this building should be more pleasant at street level than Festival City Hotel is presently. Exciting project :)
I think, therefore I tram

Bank Street has got to have one of the best angles of Westpac House IMO, the building looks bigger and better.

Is it just me of does the frontage of the current Festival Motel look similar to the former South Australia Hotel?
