The Verde crane at Kent town came down in the last couple of days (I am not sure exactly when).

I think I saw a part of it coming down yesterday.

Came down Saturday. King William St, Kent Town was closed for most of the day.

Idk if my tolerance is higher but tbh the pile on is just as unattractive. If you think someone's a troll, don't feed them - ignore instead. If you think their ideas are wrong, challenge their ideas. The aggressive push back and sometimes name-calling are more likely to encourage the behaviour you appall than dissuade it.
I couldn't agree more. Being a conservative type I despise the bad language.

We have just recently lost a seat in Parliament due to slow population growth. Melbourne has over 150 cranes while we have a poultry 18.

And some people have the nerve to get upset when I talk about how bad the situation here is in SA ?

We need to get real in this city.
We're plodding towards a population of 1.5 million, Melbourne are shooting to 5 million. If we try to keep up with and compare ourselves to them, then Adelaide is always going to look inferior. We're not in the same league.
Have a look at it on a per capita basis. Assuming Melbourne is 3 times bigger then Adelaide.

150 cranes in Melbourne divided by 3 equals
50 cranes. But we don't have 50 cranes here in Adelaide. We don't even have 20.

As a city, we are in all sorts of trouble.

What trouble are you referring to? Not sure why there is a need to benchmark ourselves against Melbourne or anyone for that matter. Things are moving forward- that's a good thing.

Good comment mate...............things are moving forward

And latest population estimates, Melbourne 4.5 million, Adelaide 1.3 million, which gives a ratio of 3.46........yes Melbourne is probably doing better (economically) than Adelaide.....but as I say to friends and strangers, Adelaide is on "the up!"

GHS, you clearly don't understand basic economics.

There's a multiplier effect. The bigger the city, the bigger the multiplier effect, the bigger the economic output.

16 projects for Adelaide is pretty good.

Have a look at per capita basis. New York = 28 Cranes with 20 Million People, Adelaide = 16 with 1.5 Million people. For New York to be tracking the same as us they would need to have about 360 cranes. If you think we're in trouble New York must be the next Detroit. By the way, the number of cranes don't always correspond with economic activity; how many cranes do you think will be needed to build 50bn worth of submarines?

I'm also interested in how you propose to 'get real' in this city. I doubt that you will answer the question though because you have no answers.

Not relative to Adelaidean but the latest crane stats are out and GHS if you can read, it might be worth having a look.

Adelaide has the second highest growth behind Canberra all factors considered including population etc.

Cranes are a lag economic indicator and do not accurately represent the current state of the cities economy.

With relatively similar populations, I would say Melbourne is in a dire position when compared with Sydney (151 v 350).
