A lease has been signed by the developer and SA Water for a tower of 16 660 sqm2. The lease also mentions that SA Water expects to have the building ready for occupation by August 15, 2008. If it is not ready by then, the developers have to pay a fine of around $1000 per day until it is complete rising to $20 000 per day if it is still not complete by September 15, 2008. With such documents in place it appears that this building is 100% going to happen.

It would've been good to have a similar contract with the Adelaide Airport developers or at least the people behind the fuel system.

It's probably just a coincidence with the airport comment, but Hansen & Yuncken have been selected to build this tower.

On their website it appears that the building has had another height increase, as it is now 14 levels, and it will have 20 000 sqm2 of office space. It will also have 140 underground car-spaces, and it will eventually be a 5 star green rated building under the AGBR guidelines.

The Catholic Church has also decided to lease some office space.

Are they keeping the two story brick building on the corner of Victoria Square or is that going too?

Good q, although it's also fenced off on the other side of that two storey and i didn't see it at all in any of the VS1 renders.

The brick building fronting Victoria Square is also about to undergo demolition.

Yeah I think a large part of the site to the east will be used to expand the near-by school grounds. Therefore I think the building faces Victoria Square although it hasn't been stated so far.

The eastern sections of the site will be used to build 16 new classrooms as well as a new gym for St. Aloysius College.

Last Suday I went to a baptism, and I collected a copy of the Catholic newspaper 'Southern Cross'. I was dissapointed to read that the newspaper refers to the building as being only 8-10 levels.

The Catholic Church has submitted a development application (DA 297/ 2006) ON April 11 for an 11 level office tower.

It is now concrete that the building will be 11 levels (10 levels excluding ground floor)

The building will include:

*basement car-parking
*a water education centre
*3 level gym, classrooms and laboratory building for St. Aloysisus college
*$80 000 000 construction cost
*development designated category 1

SA Water signed up for 16 660 sqm2 of space not 12 levels.

16 660 sqm2 can fit in a 11 level building, the site is very big.

However I have not seen an image of the proposed building so it may actually be 12 levels if you count the ground floor as level 1 and the plant room as level 12.
