Thanks.
Works OK at Mile End.

Surely they could have managed any issues, presumably from late night revellers?
Rowdy taxi drivers? Shift workers?
Spillover of audiences from theatres, cinemas, spectators from evening games (basketball, baseball, footy etc) looking for a late night meal? Tourists looking for an alternative to heading to the Casino?

Pity!
I could see a version of Vili's Cafe being very successful in this location.

Does your 'Vee' happen to stand for 'Vili' by any chance?

I am just happy to see this space finally filled. Whether it's Villis, Cafe Primo, Maccas or Joyrenes Fashion.

Though Villis would of been good, but I guess we can thank the ACC for that one

Agreed, I'd far sooner have a Vili's Cafe there (iconic SA quality produce) than a Primo (cheap generic crap).

It was a serious question, though... the 'Vee' username and passion for the Vili's brand aroused slight suspicion... :)

Hi Matt.
Nope! No connection with Vili's. By coincidence, dropped in there this week for a quick lunch so it was uppermost on my mind.

Just see their cuisine (given the location), pricing and probability of extended trading hours as being more appropriate. Agree that Vili's is an iconic brand too, like FUIC, Coopers, Haighs, (Menz) Fruchocs, Bickfords ...

However, I am pleased that the space has been let, after a very long period, and hope it is a success.
(Crawf - have to draw the line at Joyrenes.)

I used to live not far from the Bake Cafe in Mile End and was in there often.

As an ex-pat, I often find myself longing for the things I can't readily get here (Vili's obviously being one of those... although I hear an Aussie specialty shop in Covent Garden now stocks Vili's produce, will have to check it out).
Anyway, point being, a spot like that which processes tourists from interstate/overseas would be great to showcase something typically South Australian that isn't readily available anywhere else. Shame negotiations failed with the powers that be.

Anyway, hope Primo is a success. At least there's something there now considering how long it was left vacant.

But hey, i prefer a good pub schnitzel to anything so i'm probably not the best to be giving culinary advice.
Can you recommend? I've had some average schnitzels of late, and this upsets me.
To be fair i've had some average ones lately aswell. I mean come on, it a deep fried piece of crumbed veal! how can you screw that up?

Coopers Alehouse/Earl of Aberdeen make a great schnitzel. Have one with an aged sparkling ale off the handpump... nice.

Primo will probably do a roaring trade, and good luck to them. Irrespective of my views on their food, lots of people seem to like them, and it's good for the city to have popular restaurants. And we shouldn't kid ourselves that Vili's would have been a Central Market-esque drawcard for tourists searching for uniquely South Australian produce (!) - it would have been full of drunks scrambling for chips and gravy at 4am.

I would have been one of these drunks.

I've heard good reports of the Alehouse. Perhaps a visit is in order.

Do they still do that thing where if you finish the huge schnitzel you get a free beer?

If they do I've been ripped off five times.
