Hear hear. Looking at the height diagram here, which I assume to be still current, it appears that the site allows for 53m to ceiling and an extra 16m for plant room, spires and whatnot - a total of 69m. Here's hoping that the architectural merit of the design allows for the DAP to make an exception in this case.

That arcade just hasn't been the same since they shut off the waterfall.

I have heard this development will be known as UniLodge, i'm not sure how accurate that information is.

Isn't UniLodge the building on the corner of the mall, with UniSA signs and the Commbank on the ground floor?

Ah. I Googled UniLodge to find what I was thinking of, and I found this.

I'm not too sure if the renaissance arcade tower and the unilodge tower are the same proposal at the moment. It would seem that renaissance would go directly west of mansions and the unilodge project would go somewhere along austin street. That's my reading of it.

But then again, the two storeys of car park fits in with what i've heard.. so who knows.

Sounds like a massive project. Details just updated:
Description Demolish existing buildings and construct 2 residential towers containing 528 student accommodation apartments, 2 levels of student teaching areas, carparking and redevelop existing reatail tenancies of the Renaissance Arcade

I notice more and more of the proposals are going over the height limits - and that many are being approved. Makes you wonder when they will lift the limits again.

Fantastic to see this proposal come alive again - looked 'dead' for a while. The east end needs some decent high rise to break from that 'pyramid' look the ACC were so keen about.Gives the city a greater expanse in appearance as well.

Interesting to see so much student accommodation going up. If the state policy is to attract still students more we can look foward to many more resi blocks in the CBD.

I think the recent spate of proposals also reflects Adelaide catching up after so many years of construction inactivity.
(Coupled wirth the mining boom).

ADELAIDE - TOWARDS A GREATER CITY SKYLINE It's all happening!
Jack.

Back at work today and going through my millions of emails came accross one from the ACC.

Decent Height.
In regards to your enquiry relating to the proposed re-development of Renaissance Arcade I can confirm that the application currently proposes a height of 68 metres to the top of the larger of the two towers (71 metres to the top of the plant) and 22 storeys.

Excuse my ignorance, but is the facade of the current building going to be kept.
I think it would be sad to see it go.?
Never the less it sounds like an exciting project.
