[COM] Re: Huge announcement at 10:00 a.m

#61 Post by Shuz » Wed Dec 19, 2007 1:13 pm

I'm so confused.
Harbo says a 'significant' building will be established, and that Hills are moving into it, which doesnt seem right as they are only occupying 3 floors of the tower, which we dont even know if its really that significant after all. Are you sure the media/Harbo got his facts right, cos it seems all a bit... like the jigsaw doesnt fit.
Someone clear it up for me?

It's called politics, he was talking up the project heaps. This is not a huge announcement by any means. The give away was the 'iconic' Australian company tag seeing as there aren't iconic Australian companies left plus the King William Street location. Anyway moving on.

I think its marginally taller to roof than Optus, but the dome of the Optus building is higher. Should bring some much needed height and density to the area, and may I say - the colour scheme is very interesting! Wonder how it will turn out? Nonetheless it will compliment the 400KWS building U/C further down the street.

That looks great IMO... but what is the tram stop doing there? Are they going ro re-do the stops on the southern side of the CBD as well?

looks pretty good.

i would rather it be a bit taller than optus, and not so close to it as well... so as to give each building some "breathing space"

It would be good if it wasn't so fat and not right next to Optus

I really like the Optus Building :(

It looks fantastic. But just wait for the Optus tenants to start complaining.

I'd say it's the developer trying to make the project look better than it really is. I don't think DTEI are involved, but I could be wrong.

Dunno why you would bother. The South Terrace tram stop is virtually across the road and I havn't heard anything down the grape vine.

We move into the Optus building this Friday... some of you will remeber the photos i have been taking from there during the fit out. guess I'll have to make the most of it until it's blocked out in about 12 - 18 months.

i guess the plus side is I can take awesome construction pics of it going up.

Although somewhat boxy, the colour scheme and the façade details make this a very appealing and visually attractive building. My only criticism is that, because it is practically the same height as the Optus Building, it will create a 'wall' effect.
