Nice article in tiser, been wating a fair while for this one. Combined with the new airpiort terminal it will significantly alter the 'first impression' of interstate and for that any overseas vistitors travelling here from interstate.

BTW, didn't realise about the 5 level podium sounds pretty good to me. That area of the city is SCREAMING out for development - and it's going to get it by the bucketload :D

During the PAR phase, you'll find that a lot of the local objection to the project wasn't about the height of the towers at all, rather the height of the podium levels. I remember calls for one side to be reduced to 3 levels.

Nice to see the revitalisation of the western end of the CBD getting underway with both this project and eventually upgrades of several streets such as Grote Street. Now for the interstate rail terminus and ocean terminal...

Cap City website updated today.
An agreement has been signed between the Adelaide City Council and the development consortium Urban Construct and Multiplex for this development. Stage 1 to commence in April 2006.
Can we get one of our super sleuths to find out what's involved in each of the stages?

Stage 1 is the bus station.

The other stages - couldn't give a fuck. I'm sick of knowing details 5 years before a sodding piece of gravel is turned on site. Fuck me dead, is 223 NT finished yet? Fucking piece of shit. Buildings can go fuck themselves.

I wish Hooker House could go fuck itself. That'd be a sight.

But it's true... things are extraordinarily slow down here. Do a google on Kuching's airport... most of it was built, up and running including the freeway in about 2-3 months due to 24 hour construction, and that's much larger than adelaide's airport.

Anyhow.. sorry i'm going off topic now.

This is an excellent project, which will inject much needed buzz and life into a part of the city which looks very rundown and at night it is very dim and lonely.

However I would like to raise a point which I think has been overlooked. It is too early in my opinion to change the status of this project to U/C. I say this because construction on the busport is still about a month away, and the towers will not begin construction until the busport is completed. Thereofre we wont be seeing any action on the towers until late 2007 early 2008.

The reason it was changed to UC is that the carpark will be closed this week and preliminary works will start. This project will have a long span, so all construction talk for all stages will be kept to this thread.

I noticed that there's some new signage placed on the corner of Morphett and Wakefield streets above the old Balfours building. It's was pretty dark but I can saw something about 'biggest' urban renewal and I think it's got the renders of the towers. I'll see if I can take a pic during daylight hours sometime.

Yep, Advertising board are up at the balfours site, but it shows only two towers, not three.

Also you should see the bus station site now. Looks like a sandpit on steriods!

There are only going to be 2 towers at the Balfours site.

There will be 3 at the Bus station site.

Is it just me or does this whole development remind anyone else of the kind of architecture that was built in melbourne and everywhere else in the world in the 40's and 50s' as project or public housing......

Simply add some coloured panels and presto
