City development to be approved

PLANS to build a 13-storey office block in Light Square are expected to be approved tonight despite complaints from Adelaide City Council.

The council's Development Assessment Panel last month voted against the plans, arguing the building was 5.1m over its 40m limit.

The State Government's Development Assessment Commission, which has the power of approval for city developments costing more than $10 million, will discuss the plans tonight.

Apart from approving it, I actually think they should have increased the height a little before approving. Nothing too crazy, maybe about 5 extra floors to make the prominent corner location even more prominent... still good news nonetheless. Do I remember hearing that something might be built on the other (West) side of Light Square?

I have high hopes for the Adelaide CBD, after this decision . A win for common sense!

Just looking at the original render, I reckon it's going to look unreal when it's done. Some people may not agree with me, but I think the facade has something organic about it. Can't wait to see an updated render.. how about it Paul?

Good to hear, I wasn't sure if this was another project that gets approved and stalls, or if it was already commited to by a tenant.
