I am sorry to say this, but those things, whatever they are, are a disgrace. Anything which hangs down doesn't normally look good.

Bank street has been closed off to traffic which limits access to Hindley street. Bentham street is going to become
a one way street, which limits access to Waymouth street. We're not the lucky country anymore.

I'd make a joke about this, but that'd be low hanging fruit.

Few shots from my phone. Plenty of different colours and patterns. Look pretty cool...ImageImageImage

Interesting to note that there are no permanent trees planted in Topham Mall like there is in Bank St. There are 4 or 5 smallish trees in large planter boxes that can be moved around by a forklift, but nothing permanent. I have always thought that Topham Mall was crying out for some greenery.

Looks great, thanks for the pics!

Now if only we can get rid of these ugly carparks that litter the CBD.

The lighting feature looks way better at night time than at daytime.

I walked through Topham Mall and Bank Street today just after 1pm. The floppy hanging things actually look good in the daytime with a breeze rustling through. Both malls had a busker (not sure if they were paid to be there or both decided to turn up). The atmosphere was good. The planters in Topham are all Xmasy with poinsettia everywhere. Lots of foot traffic in both malls.

(I always forget to take pictures.)

I drove past tonight, and there's now some mature trees planted close to the carpark end of the mall.

Just out of interest, are they going to retile inside the actual shop area of Topham mall and go all the way to Waymouth St with the new tiling and lighting features for consistency?

Will the floppy hangy things collect water when it rains? There are some directly above some of the cafe seating.

They also were folding up quite badly in the wind and I wasn’t sure if they would naturally unfurl or be like that permanently!

Does look really good overall.

The flappy things have got to go. They're supremely awful.

Just some simple vines on a steel wire trellis will do.

Maybe they are placeholders until the vines they will plant are long enough to cover the steel structure?

I think the flappy things make it looks decent. They're my favourite part.
