Are you referring to the tri-coloured, windowed wall with top glass chamfer as "largely blank"?
Im with you. The wall is fine in my books, would have been a nice touch if the glass chamfer was applied to the Northern side aswell. For the most past future developments should block it out of view, but as we have it now it's a nice addition to the skyline.

...sigh. Not a great choice of words. Besides the chamfer, the pattern and other windows are pretty basic/unambitious. None of that wall besides the chamfer is "look twice at" material. I would also argue those little grey windows you are talking about are pretty dinky and ugly.

Don't think that I hate the building, as I certainly don't. It looks very good when viewed from the sides, and there are more offensive blank walls out there for sure.

However, in my opinion, what they did with that wall wasn't a particularly good outcome, especially given where this wall is viewed from (Victoria Square). They could have, for example, used the same glass as the chamfer and made a rectangular glass wall, at least at the top (if they're worried about something eventually blocking most of that wall out). Maybe they could have alternated the glass with the grey/orange cladding to make an interesting pattern, sort of like the Ibis Hotel possibly?

I just think that the presence of the glass chamfer means that they weren't really too restricted with the design of that wall and could have used more glass on that wall and therefore made it more interesting. Feel free to disagree if you want.

In my opinion, it would of been nice if the recently approved Park Hotel on Pirie Street was where 115 King William st is. I mean, I know it doesn't work that way but still...

Walked past it tonight and the foot path has reopened but the building is still fenced off.

Even though I would've preferred more glass on this building, i'm a bit of a fan. It fills in a nice gap when looking north from Vic Square.

This one looks amazing from street level - a great addition to this part of KWS.

Just went past on the tram and the fence that was in front of the building has been removed. Frontage looks really good.

A different perspective. I know this one has been up for a while now but I'm not sure if anyone has posted this angle. This from L27 of Westpac house
