They rejected the vile student apartment proposals at 399 KWS and 260 Pulteney Street, so they do not need to make a 'statement' with this development.

And the reason why we don't have an observation deck is because we do not have a building tall enough for one. And before you criticise Adelaide for being a backwater for not having an observation deck, ask yourself why Brisbane or Perth do not have one too, even though they have tall-enough buildings.

i know we dont have a building tall enough thats obvious, and wasnt going to call adelaide a a backwater, its not our fault its the people that are still stuck in the 50s that sh**ts me off in this city.its just the image we portray when people interstate hear we reject 20 storey buildings as too too tall, they must laugh their heads off :wallbash:

Yes please. By far the nicest proposal in a long, long time.

Shame that at present the developer has no plans to actually build the hotel, just increase the value ofthe land.

The DAC are expected to grant approval to the additional levels and height to 103m on Thursdays meeting.

interestingly enough below are comments submitted from council. No wonder we have all concrete western walls.

COUNCIL COMMENTS
Adelaide City Council’s Development Assessment Panel (DAP) considered the application at its
meeting on 20 February 2012 and advise that:

? The proposal does not satisfy criteria for over-height development in accordance with
PDC11 of the Zone, importantly the tower element is not mid block as envisaged by the
over height criteria

? The proposal does not provide a transitional reduction in building scale and
development intensity from the King William Street North Policy Area to the Light
Square and Hindmarsh Square Policy Area as called for by the desired character for the
Eastern and Western Core Policy Area.

? Further investigation into the following aspects of the design is recommended:
? wind impacts of a hundred metre tower with no set-back to the footpath and
? environmental design such as shading of the sheer glass western façade of the
building.

Just goes to show how extraordinarily outdated the ACC's Development Plan is.

Ignoring everything the ACC said (as I always do), I'm just glad to see this one finally getting approved! It's by far my favourite proposal, maybe soon we'll see a Pruszinski proposal above Westpac

Hi, just an update on this development, Paul Pruszinski informs me that 64 Currie Street, received approval for additional height yesterday. Total floors = 26 levels, so i'll update the title to approved.

Additional height = same number of metres and 2 less levels? Nice that it's been approved however.
