Would never happen, man. It'd get way too quiet when there aren't events on. There's already been safety issues with that area in the past. Unless they created some cafe's and restaurants along that side of the riverbank and made heavy pedestrian traffic want to walk there.

I don't think it needs to be closed off. Just make that area a shared zone, with some difference in the road surface and some other passive traffic calming measures. Like the proposed shared zone for Hindley St alongside UniSA. Close it off during events as needed.

Wow, i actually enjoy the words that came from Anne Moran's mouth!
She has to be drunk.
She has to be drunk.

Its actually a lizard person pretending to be Cr. Moran. If I ever had the chance to meet her. I would take the opportunity to ask if her name really is Anne, just to see if her reflex reply to any question is 'No' as I suspect it is.Dvious wrote:Wow, i actually enjoy the words that came from Anne Moran's mouth!

Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

If the AFL only has access to Adelaide Oval from March 23 (correct me if I'm wrong) will this throw out the AFL's plans to start the season earlier? Talk is that there will not be the NAB Cup, only 2 or 3 weeks of trial games so the AFL can start the season earlier. Seeing as they want to open the season at Adelaide Oval, question is, is late march early enough? Even if the unthinkable happens and the Redbacks are in a Sheffield Shield final it doesn't make much sense to stop an event that will fill out the stadium, to showcase a cricket match that will attract all of 20 people.

Ah yes - the dining and function room for SACA members and the elites. What cost to ordinary taxpayers who'll never step foot inside it?
(I know it's a standard feature of stadiums but I think the government's out of touch when they promote this)

It doesn't cost the tax payer anything. Like any function the cost of the show is incorporated in the ticket price/meal costSplashmo wrote:Ah yes - the dining and function room for SACA members and the elites. What cost to ordinary taxpayers who'll never step foot inside it?

Also corporate dollars are an important part of all and any big events etc. It's unavoidable.
On a side note, it appears the public have access to a viewing area on top of the function centre. Not entirely sure what that is but that article seems to say there is something.

SACA members use the dining room in the Western stand.

That was my thoughts too. Chop down the trees and you'd have a perfect view of the city - especially at night.AdelaideAlive wrote:as i predicted ,nice view of the stupid trees rather than the city itself, wasted opportunity

Not sure if I agree. There's a few trees low in the foreground, the lake between, and the the cityscape in the background. Makes for a much more interesting view than if it were just one dimensional. It's not like you cant see the cityscape for a forest.
Imagine it all properly landscaped (and lit at night). I think it will be a great view.
