I thought of this; it's interesting to note that over the years, many people and the Government have long suggested that a tram loop through the West End would go a long way to revitalising the area and provide some economic and developemnt stimulus into the area. But as I mentioned before, it seems as if this recent spate of proposals has occured without the need for the tram loop.
(paging stumpjumper to the thread) Unless, the developers know something that we don't? Given the current Labor Government's cosy track record with developers, I wouldn't be suprised if they've indicated to them that they will build a tram loop through the area in the near future; but in order to prop up it's viability they want the developers/people to come into the area first, so that such a service, once implemented would be heavily patronised. And if it's successful, of course they can work the spin machines and say "this is a result of Labor's lovely governance." The conspiracy isn't actually isn't as far-fetched as some people would think.
