[COM] 69-71 Light Square | 46m | 14lvls | Residential
[COM] Re: PRO: 69-71 Light Square | 54m | 15 Levels | Apartments
Thanks for the article Ben. Looks very interesting and I agree with Buildit regarding great never-to-be-built out views across the square. Light Square is slowly but surely aggregating density around it adding to the sense of enclosure and 'being in city' feel.

Have to agree with this, with all these buildings rising,it's going to get quite a feel to it.Adelarch wrote:Thanks for the article Ben. It's interesting to note that over the last 5 years or so there has been a lot of development and
proposals in the areas close to Hindmarsh square & also Light Square.
Seems that people like the idea of living in an apartment which is close to a park...

This was deferred until this Thursday but is expected to be approved after some minor design changes to better incorporate the heritage building as per below render.

Apartment complex with car stacker on Light Square a step closer to being approved

January 25, 2013
A 15-storey apartment building with Adelaide's first automatic car stacking system will be built by the middle of next year.
Residents would push a button in their apartment and their car would be delivered from the six-level stacker within three minutes.
The Development Assessment Commission considered the $25 million proposal for Light Square yesterday and decided to delegate final approval to staff, subject to final design revisions.
The building will rise above the facade of the state heritage-listed City Mission Hall.
Intro Design director Damien Ellis, who is handling the project for developer Diadem Corporation, said construction would start within three months and be completed by mid-2014.
The building will have 61 single, two and three-bedroom apartments.
The commission approved the conversion of historic, long vacant Electra House in King William St into a licensed hotel, that the Aspen Group has previously said would become "one of Adelaide's premier food and drink venues".
Assessment of a large multi-use residential, hotel and student housing development on Gouger St was deferred.

The official website: http://www.palladiumapartments.com.au/
Considering it's only 54 apartments, this shouldn't take too long to start. Unless obviously they're ridiculously overpriced.

Yep, I'm hoping their use of 'indulgent' is hyperbole and these things aren't going to be positioned as 'luxe' because I think they'll have trouble shifting them (more than otherwise, given the current economic climate). I do like that the east facing side at least is basically impossible to build out.Shahkar wrote:Considering it's only 54 apartments, this shouldn't take too long to start.
