Also a display suite has been built on Elizabeth St at the back of the site.

Visited the display suite today. The agent told me abt 50% of the units have been sold. They are expecting to start works in April. Expected completion is only end 2015! Interesting feature of this development is the mechanized car parking system. Prices though are a little steep compared to the other new apartments such as Aria, Ergo or The Storeys.

Article from Aug 2013. Its interesting to note the level of optimism shown by the writer. 6 months on and things aren't looking too well in those rose tinted glasses :?

Some notable quotes;

"Construction is expected to start in late 2013 and be completed in early 2015."

"Recent RP Data research has confirmed that prices are on the move with Adelaide recording the highest growth of all mainland cities in the June 2013 quarter. Palladium on Light is poised to benefit from continued growth due to its outstanding location, high quality and spacious and intelligent design."

Palladium on Light – Setting New Design Standards

Million Dollar Views from the Centre of Adelaide

Buyers at Palladium on Light, Adelaide’s newest high quality residential apartment building, will have access to South Australia’s first fully automated carstacking system, with apartments going on sale this week.

The car stacking system is among a host of innovative new design features in the $40 million development, which takes full advantage of its position on Light Square to provide residents with sweeping views over the City, North Parklands, suburban lights and out to the ocean.

Despite all the features, the apartments have been priced sensibly to attract more people to live in the City, with apartments starting at $350,000.

Palladium on Light will be constructed over 18 levels with 54 apartments including 1, 2 and 3 bedroom options to suit a range of buyers and a stunning dual storey penthouse with its own private swimming pool.Well known commercial builder, Tagara Builders has been appointed by the developer Diadem Corporation to construct Palladium.

Diadem Corporation managing director Nick Dean said Palladium on Light is designed as a high quality, residential apartment building with design features not seen in South Australia before.

“The development includes South Australia’s first fully automated carstacking system featuring German design and technology, radiant heaters built in to balcony ceilings, illuminated solar shading screens to balconies, 24 hour CCTV security plus more, making it Adelaide’s clear leader in design integrity”, he said.

The project is targeting primarily owner occupiers, however we do also expect a number of buyers to buy as investors, primarily for the one bedroom apartments with interest being very strong from young professionals who work in the City looking at two bedroom investment options.”

On the western side of Light Square, Palladium is ideallylocated to benefit from the new Royal Adelaide Hospital construction, expansion of the UniSA North Western campus plus several billion dollars of other infrastructure projects currently underway within walking distance to Palladium.

It is also within very easy walking distance to the CBD, Central Market, Gouger Street cafes and Rundle Mall shopping.

The developers recognise that Adelaide City Council has been working hard with the State Government to revitalise and reactivate Adelaide with projects including the Victoria Square upgrade, Adelaide Oval and Riverbank Precinct renewal and other plans to retain and attract more people to the city centre.

“There is a great sense of positivity in Adelaide which really is set to be one of the world’s great small cities,’’ Mr Dean said. “We want to be part of that and the Palladium apartments offer extremely high quality finishes and inclusions and are priced very competitively in comparison to other City based projects currently on the market.’’

Key features include:
• South Australia’s first fully automatic car stacking system Radiant heating to eastern balconies
• NBN Ready
• Landscaped entry foyer with sculpture
• 24 hour security via CCTV
• Very high spec finishes throughout the project
• Extensive use of stone, timber and integrated design elements.
Construction is expected to start in late 2013 and be completed in early 2015.

Recent activity in the sales of residential apartments in the City of Adelaide has shown a significant lift in activity, fuelled by a return of Investors to the market as well as owner occupiers seeking high quality, well-located apartments for private residences.

Recent RP Data research has confirmed that prices are on the move with Adelaide recording the highest growth of all mainland cities in the June 2013 quarter. Palladium on Light is poised to benefit from continued growth due to its outstanding location, high quality and spacious and intelligent design.

It was part of a promo for the apartments. Artist Thom Buchanan was painting the view 30 meters up from a crane.

In what is hopefully a positive sign, the ads for this development on realestate.com now have "Building about to commence" on them.
