I personally don't mind it looking temporarily dark; the architecture of the building is enough to be thankful for, and the fact that the 'colour' changes throughout the day makes it all the more interesting.

Here you go..
New dawn for Adelaide Casino as $330 million Eos by SkyCity hotel prepares to open late this year

An on-call “mixologist” providing an in-room cocktail service and a team of chefs who can whip up high-end meals on request will be features of the new Eos by SkyCity hotel, which is scheduled to open in Adelaide late this year.

SkyCity will start taking bookings for the new hotel today, with Eos by SkyCity general manager Jodi Brown saying the hotel would deliver a “new realm of luxury” for Adelaide.

While SkyCity’s Adelaide Casino has been forced to close due to coronavirus, the construction of the new $330 million casino expansion, including the 12-storey hotel, has forged ahead.

Work on the prominent curved golden facade which looks out over the River Torrens is complete and attention is now turning to the interior fit-outs.

Ms Brown said the name “Eos” had even more significance following an incredibly challenging period for hotel, hospitality and tourism operators.

“Named for the Greek goddess of dawn, Eos is an embodiment of hope and optimism. We are incredibly optimistic that the tourism industry will recover, and we are looking forward to Eos by SkyCity playing an important role in bringing visitors back to South Australia when the time is right,’’ she said.

In addition to the 120-room luxury hotel, there will also be new restaurants and bars, conference and event facilities, a spa and wellness centre and expanded gaming experiences.

As well as the in-room cocktail service, there will also be in-room styling, post-flight treatments and personal training offered.

Ms Brown said SkyCity was inviting guests to “live extraordinary’’.

“While luxurious, Eos by SkyCity will also create a welcoming environment where guests immediately feel at home,” said Ms Brown.

“From the time they walk through the door, our guests will be welcomed to a new realm of luxury, where a love for the unexpected meets deep local knowledge. Where subtle gestures underpin indulgent experiences.”

SkyCity Adelaide general manager, David Christian said the company believed South Australia was well placed to be at the forefront of the recovery in the tourism sector.

“We believe it’s highly likely that there will be some interstate travel by December, and if not, definitely within the local market,’’ he said.

Mr Christian said it was not anticipated the hotel would hit peak occupancy in the first six months but the ambition was to get it open and running and providing a new level of luxury for the Adelaide market.

“This will be a step up, there’s no question about it. It’s going to be superb,’’ he said.

“We hope that it will become one of the standout, iconic hotels in Australia.’’

Mr Christian said the company was grateful that construction was able to continue both on the expansion and hotel site, and within the existing casino.

“We are looking forward to working with the wider tourism industry to shine a light on South Australia as a destination and play our part in attracting visitors back to our state when the tourism industry begins to recover,” he said.

Shining brightly in the skyline! (22/5/2020)

I will also endeavour to regularly provide construction updates of the Festival Centre Tower from this vantage point.

Same photo but with a mock facade cover now up on the station and work happening to the station windows inside and out. Wonder if it’s all part of the same work?

New restaurants coming soon to Skycity.

Sol Bar and Restaurant
Perched atop the SkyCity expansion and Eos by SkyCity, Sol Bar and Restaurant offers modern Australian cuisine with unrivalled views of the Adelaide Hills, River Torrens, Adelaide Oval and South Australian coastline.

Locally sourced artisanal produce features prominently in the a la carte menu, complemented by an extensive wine and cocktail list.

Huami
Huami unashamedly aims to deliver Adelaide’s finest Chinese restaurant, where authentic Chinese is delivered with opulence, taking diners on a contemporary journey through Southern China.

In addition to the intimate dining restaurant, Huami will offer three private dining rooms and showcase a 1,200 bottle wine wall.

ITL

ITL’s modern kitchen embraces family friendly Italian dining, featuring two large wood fired pizza ovens, freshly made pasta and gelati.

Adjoining the Festival Plaza, ITL will be a high energy attraction for customers on the way to or from the Adelaide Oval and Festival Theatre.

Lucky Noodle

Located on the main gaming floor of the expansion, Lucky Noodle will serve fast and fresh Southeast Asian food, delivering a quick dining option, without compromising on quality.

Westward

Offering brilliant views of the River Torrens and footbridge, Westward is the perfect meeting spot pre or post game, located on the western side of the SkyCity precinct.

Premier Steven Marshall said the SkyCity expansion is set to be a tourism drawcard for South Australia.

“We are really looking forward to the opening of these new restaurants and hotel because it will give more reasons for people to visit Adelaide and our regions, to experience our world-class food, wine and hospitality.”

SkyCity Adelaide General Manager, David Christian, said the $330 million new hotel, Eos by SkyCity, and world-class SkyCity entertainment precinct is nearing completion.

“We’re thrilled to play a part in shining a light on the South Australian tourism industry, as well as attracting interstate and international visitors back to our state, when the time is right.

To prepare for these exciting new venues, a significant recruitment program has commenced to attract the very best of the hospitality industry to join the SkyCity team.

I know it was only six years ago the old casino got an upgrade, but I hope it’s done again to align with the new part.

The three new restaurants in the expansion is an Italian restaurant on the ground floor and on the first floor they are calling one the signature restaurant and there is one on level ten they are calling rooftop restaurant. That’s what there called on site anyway.

Architectural stonemasons are restoring the west façade of the station as part of Renewal SA's broader revitalisation. Lovely article about it over at The Adelaide Review: 'Endangered art of heritage restoration to find new life at Adelaide Railway Station'
