The InterContinental and Hilton would lend themselves nicely to glazed cladding. However I think the most we'll ever see is either a restoration of the current treatment (that sandstone look) or a paint job (heaven forbid!)
...or demolition (from my keyboard to the building Gods ears)

I actually think the Intercon is somewhat unfairly maligned on here sometimes, as a building I think the design isn't bad - sort of reminds me a bit of Australis House on Grenfell. The colour probably isn't ideal/hasn't aged too well though. Also, the atrium has a great 80s futurism type feel.
I agree, I like the Intercontinental building. All it needs is a rethink of the outside spaces, both front and back, so that they connect better with both North Tce and the riverbank precinct. And maybe resolve the signage a bit more — the dark grey panel behind is lazy.

A few different angles. As a building I don't mind the Intercontinental either, but SkyCity helps to reduce the 80's style presence that the hotel casts over the precinct, which I think is a good thing

The impact this has on the skyline from the above images is wonderful. Makes Adelaide feel modern. So many of the developments in the images look dated. Convention Centre parts 2 and 3 and the developments from the 90's on North Terrace come to mind.

I wanted a picture of the reflective windows but the sun was directly over head. still the casino is impressive from the other side of the river. Pity about the old AMP building totally ruined.

Once it’s completed and lit up I’m sure it would be a great addition to the riverbank at night

Gosh the advertising they either project or stick onto the festival centre really ruins its appearance...

this building is truly amazing. Driving past it on the weekend around sunset it was glowing gold. We need more of this style glass.

Yep ⬆️, I feel that Adelaide is finally getting the casino it deserves. I've said it on this forum before, that for me it was the most important piece in the riverbank redevelopment.
