[U/C] 42-56 Franklin Street | ~78m | 17lvls | Office

#1 Post by Will » Sat Aug 05, 2006 6:46 pm

My sources tell me that on the 26 of July, Telstra lodged an application with the council for a 18 level, mixed use tower at 42-56 Franklin Street.

The development has been designated Category 2, and is expected to cost $35 million.

The development is expected to include 25 000 sqm2 of office space.

This is not a replacement for CCT3, as CCT3 is located at 12-26 Franklin Street. This building will most likely go for the site across the road from Truscotts. The site is currently occupied by a derelict 5 level white coloured building, and this new tower would be located next to the Telstra Exchange.

Will was spot on, in tonight's DAP meeting the 'Lodged Applications' did include the Telstra mixed use tower as no. 56 in the Report. "Demolish exisiting building and construct 17 level mixed use building at 42-56 Franklin Street"

The colour render looks great.

If they must have car-parking as part of the development, it's good to see that they've hidden it well and spent a bit of money on an alternative to the prison bars.

That end of the city is definately picking up.

Thanks for sharing the article with us Howie.

Looks like an exciting project, which like the article states would make a good new home for Transport SA or SA Police which are also looking for 20 000 sqm2 of office space.

I asume it is the white 6 floor building on Franklin st not the Telstra Exchnage tower on Waymouth st.

The white building on the far left in this 2003 pic by AtD is the one planned for demolition:

So it's actually not a telstra tower, the site is being purchased from Telstra. Makes sense now.

I'll change the title of the thread then.

Looks bloody nice BTW

Doesn't twin towers usually mean two?

Maybe these are Siamese twins then.
