Gee, never noticed that dinky little green wall on the Uno Apartments building.
Will those plants even get enough sunlight to survive once this goes up and blocks that wall out? Can't say I'll miss seeing that wall; Uno's one of the more mediocre developments in recent years.

I actually really like the vertical garden, looks even better when the vine is in bloom. Actually think Uno's western wall does a reasonable job compared to most around town, although that angle is far more unflattering than looking from Waymouth St.

Site works still progressing when i drove past last night. Hopefully see a crane base in the next couple of weeks.
Going to look cool with 5 cranes all going up in the next month or two within close proximity to one another.

Must have given the 'perception' that adelaide is too pro-bike, they ground the bright green paint away for some reason and have left the bike lanes in scuffed-up bitumen finish.Brando wrote:That fluro green for the bike lanes looks good. A lot more pronounced than the dark green and easier for motorists to distinguish.

From experience painted finishes on bike lanes can be too slippery to be safe, so that could be a possible reason. Either that or someone in council just being a hater on bikes which is par for any course :pmshagg wrote:Must have given the 'perception' that adelaide is too pro-bike, they ground the bright green paint away for some reason and have left the bike lanes in scuffed-up bitumen finish.Brando wrote:That fluro green for the bike lanes looks good. They've been working 6 days a week here. Piling would be almost done, if not already.

I actually prefer the current design to that, the vision does not fit into the streetscape of Waymouth Street. However another location would have been suitable.
[COM] Re: U2 on Waymouth - 114 Waymouth Street | 78m | 26lvl
I think a design of that nature anywhere in Adelaide is needed. Such a shame.

I think it would be good on North terrace near the SAHMRI but it does look odd on Waymouth only because all the buildings around it are 60s, 70s 80s.

Agreed. Would perhaps even be a nice addition instead of the Walker tower in the plaza redevelopment.Ben wrote:I think it would be good on North terrace near the SAHMRI but it does look odd on Waymouth only because all the buildings around it are 60s, 70s 80s.

Wow, that's sad.
Sad that there's people who would prefer a pile of crap compared to that modern, sleek, futuristic looking building that could be going up.
Doesn't fit in with it's surrounds?
Maybe if a building like that went up, it's surrounds would be redeveloped to fit in with it?
What century and year are we currently in? Someone remind me, so I can better understand why a modern looking building is not preferred.

Weymouth Street is predominantly a business and office street. Company accountants will look for low rent and low running costs rather than an out-there design when it comes to choosing a building to lease. The chances of Waymouth Street adopting sleek, curved designs with plenty of unused air space are close to zero.
