it appears that the works being done are quiet major on this building.
are the tenants still in this skyscraper while the works are being done?

Cheers, Heath Loxton. :)
Yes ... all tenants still in building. Work is external only.

I agree with you.

It looks a lot sharper and takes away from the bland beige look that dominates our skyline.

Don't like it at all. One of the better facades in the city, a lovely marble has been turned into a modern yet cheap looking plastic toy. Classic and classy replaced with tacky and average. Wrong type of building to try and modernize to be honest.

I've read somewhere that they did it because the original facade wasn't holding up well, so the over-cladding is more there for containment. Doesn't affect questions about their choice of materials, the look they're going for etc., but they didn't just do it to give the building a makeover.

It was in the paper yesterday that Origin aren't renewing their lease and will be moving to 100 Waymouth St.

Have to agree, many more buildings in Adelaide I would re skin before this one as it looked to have a quality finish already, and it's light colour was crisper than many of our other pebblecrete masterpieces.

It's obvious opinions will vary, and that's all they are (opinions) but I like it too!

Story online here. All of it true expect Origin's corporate hq is in Sydney not Adelaide.

I saw the new façade yesterday, and all I can do is shake my head in disappointment. They have turned an elegant and competent example of 60s architecture into something that resembles a prop from a Soviet pop music video.

Yes especial the wavy white bit around the top, it must just block the views from the most valuable floor space

When the facade first started revealing itself I was so disappointed, so I did some asking around and I can confirm that the beautiful old marble was infact structurally compromised. People often talk about staying true to yourself, not being fake etc. I like to think the same applies to buildings. This new facade is just like a fake tan, the small amount of people its fooling - aren't really worth your time of day anyway ;) (okay in respect to people that like it, definitely too harsh, but I am sure you get my drift)

by how good is he
I was told that the cladding and the colour scheme was designed for the supposed major tenant and building name right holder, Origin. I have been told they had the top eight floors. Heard negotiations broke down after work had started and Origin walked (to former work cover building I think). Top 8 floors all still empty I am told.

I walk past the façade all the time. Massive improvement imo.
