how good is he wrote:I was told that the cladding and the colour scheme was designed for the supposed major tenant and building name right holder, Origin. I have been told they had the top eight floors. Heard negotiations broke down after work had started and Origin walked (to former work cover building I think). Top 8 floors all still empty I am told.
You've been told porky pies. I work in this building. Origin are still here. Also they don't have the top 8 floors, they mainly have lower-mid level floors.

In 20 years time they'll be taking the cladding off and restoring it to it's original condition with funding assistance courtesy of ACC!!

the top of the old AMP building already looks tied and tacky -like they just used some left over plaster board -really cheap.

Agreed, terrible. If they are going to spend the time and money to redevelop a facade, do it properly.

Unlike others, I actually don't mind the wall cladding at all.

But that big plasterboard-looking sheet at the top .... YUCK!! I suspect it's there so larger building signage can be placed in this prominent location.

For some reason the façade reminds me of this:

The sad fact, the white splash at the top of the building is the best addition of this upgrade... The remainder looks holds no merit. Orange is possibly the worst colour they could have chosen for the window shades.

Just like the upgrade they did to the ground level a few years ago; neither add any value to the building, and as the ground floor upgrade has shown - in just a few years the 'ultra-modern' revamp already past it's use-by date. I mean, this revamp could have AT-LEAST included cleaning up the ground floor entry (for a second time).

I'm holding out for the day (hopefully no more than a decade from now) when they rip the cladding, window shades, white splash, and the additions to the ground floor and completely restore the building to it's former glory, just as they've done recently to the Treasury Building on Victoria Square.

are they going to re-install the Origin signage on the top? If not, the white bit that engulfs the NE corner of the building makes it looks unfinished and tacky.

Nope, because Origin are moving out. I'm sure naming rights will be negotiated with whoever they can get to fill the vacancy.
