I guess it saves the walk?

interesting spot, it is amazing how these developments seem to pop up in random locations.

would have been nice to see a few towers built close together.

The emerging Flinders Street residential district isn't too far away. This side of the city is perfect for residential high/mid rise.

True. The Art Apartments are quite prominent in this area, and that building is only 41m tall. This one won't be too alone if the rest of that precinct goes ahead, and it's also pretty close to the Tivoli Hotel development.

I'd really like to see the CBD core extend east of Hindmarsh Square, and this building will help to do that. Judging from my Adelaide 2020 on Google Earth, the bulk of developments are west of KWS, leaving the lowrise eastern end of the CBD quite bare in comparison.

Admittedly the eastern CBD doesn't look like the main street of a country town like some of the streets in the western CBD do, as there are 5-6 storey buildings there currently, but I certainly think that the eastern end of Wakefield, Flinders, Pirie and the southern side of Grenfell St could be good places for highrise buildings to eventually spread, creating a T-shaped or perhaps triangular skyline from each end of North Terrace to the KWS/South Terrace intersection.

I would love to see the low rise campus-style office blocks on the eastern side of Hindmarsh Square redeveloped into mixed-use high rise to extend the city buzz closer to these emerging residential areas. It dissipates pretty quickly once you move east of Hindmarsh.

Completely agree. That whole block is the most under-utilised under developed part of the city considering it's location and potential

Needs a cluster of 100m -150m buildings. Will also help keep the east end alive during the weekday when the RAH heads west

Looks good off the plans, a nice addition to this end of town. Big plus that there's no blank walls aswell! Nice to see proposals pop up in the eastern section of our CBD, hopefully they eventuate.

This looks great ... very nice design. My only reservation is the location .... although it's only a short walk to Rundle St nightlife, immediately adjacent is a large Salavation Army. If I was looking for a city apartment, this wouldn't be a desirable location for me with so many other better-located developments available.

I guess a similar assumption could be made with Bohem and Whitmore Square. As previously pointed out, the rejuvenation of Flinders St in years to come will make this area a viable option.

I quite like this. It's a nice, clean, modern design. Looks like the tower component on top of the brown podium is set back on the eastern boundary of the site, which prevents a blank wall, so they get the big tick there. Here's a few more renders I print screened courtesy of the PDF on the DAC website.

No blank walls, so it gets the thumbs-up from me.

Anyway, I'm not sure if anyone's aware, but it looks like there's a Facebook group that wants to save the existing buildings. They are nice buildings and it would be a bit sad to see them go IMO.

I flicked through the PDFs using good old Ctrl+F, but there didn't seem to be any comments about the architectural merit of the buildings to be demolished (not even any comments that those buildings have little/no merit), it just mentioned the heritage in the surrounds. I admit I might not have looked properly though.

I'm with you guys in giving this one a big thumbs up. :applause: I especially like how the upper floor 3 bed apartments all come with an internal dedicated storage room inside the apartment. Good planning.

Am I missing something here. An apartment situated over the road from green parklands, a 5 min walk to Rundle St East, a 7 min walk to Hutt St cafes, and people are saying that its in a iffy spot. WTF. By the way, the homeless are spread throughout the city. Ive walked past this site many times at night and have never ever felt unsafe. I would live in this spot in a heartbeat
