Could be wrong, but I think I found where the mural will go. Plus at bottom is a quick mockup of how it can look.

Why not an artwork that’s more representative of music and the performing arts? It is a theatre after all

Agreed. Something like what they painted on the side of the Capri would have been more fitting.

From the article:

When it came to the design, East’s brief was to create something that evokes a sense of calm and curiosity in passersby. “Inspired by Her Majesty’s Theatre and the rich performing arts history of Adelaide, the design is a bouquet of South Australian native flowers, to honour and applaud the grand dame at the end of each performance,” says East, who was a finalist in last year’s Archibald Prize. The work also includes a “note of devotion” at the bottom that reads, “From Adelaide”.

I really love this clever idea and love the artwork.

Coincidentally, Capri posted this today!

I hope the restoration involves a new paint job for the facade, the mustard yellow is telling of the last upgrade (1970s) like the upgrade to Flinders Street Station in Melbourne they should ditch the mustard yellow for a lighter sand-stone colour.

I think the worst heritage building paint job in Adelaide has to be the former Garden Theatre on Goody Rd, now a chemist shop. The more modern verandah is also the wrong style for the building.

This article below was from the ‘Tiser in October. Anyone know if the building works are going to plan & on schedule?

Hit musical SIX, which retells the lives of Henry VIII’s wives as a modern pop concert, will be the first major show at Her Majesty’s Theatre when it reopens next year.

The Australian production of SIX will open here in June, after the $67 million expansion and upgrade of Her Majesty’s is completed in early 2020.

There will be an 8-12 week testing period at the venue, during which some smaller shows and launch events will be held, before SIX opens

I hope they are, I’m seeing Six on opening night.

Hadn't walked by in a while but noticed today it has progressed significantly. The glass is all installed on the lattice-style extension. Didn't have an opportunity to photograph, however.

Thanks Andy!

That glass looks good. Kinda looks like what I wish the supposed 'jewelbox' extension/annex to the Mayfair Hotel looked like.
