Amendment to facade and 3 additional levels. Would bring the height to around 80m
Variation to Development Authorisation 020/A068/17 - 2 additional apartment levels, 1 additional car parking level and amendment to podium facade design and materiality

Always facade changes after approval? How can a bland design be dumbed down further?!

We still haven’t seen contextual tenders so how about we wait until that point to judge.

Given what they’ve produced with Kodo I’m not that hopeful tbh.

What's wrong with Kodo? Turned out pretty good in my opinion.

Are you blind? There's a big fucking blank western wall.

What were the design constraints that led to that wall like that? What other design options were available within those constraints? Presumably there is a reason that side does not have pretty green/yellow balconies like the other sides, but I'm not an engineer, architect or planning expert to know why that was the optimal design choice.

Regardless, the developer could still do something with it, other than a slab of grey/white paint. There are numerous facade finishes they could be used to make it somewhat appealing. As it stands, our most prominent square will have a 100+ ‘painted’ wall looming over it, as will Gouger st. Shame.

You can see why our hopes for this were low prior to the above amendments.

Paint is no substitute for good design/architecture.

Regardless, I am loving how Kodo is looking and look forward to seeing western side of the building painted.

Back on topic now....

The celebration of mediocrity for the sake of development is very real, I see.

It's not a mediocre development though. It's actually really nice looking from the East. Like the Temple Mount, we're not crying at the development itself, we're just wailing at the Western Wall. Once it's addressed, people will move on.
