Gee, inspired design...
Yuck, hope this one is thrown on the reject pile.. would suit somewhere on Main North Rd but not the East End FFS!

Particularly when it's on the Frome St Bikeway...
It will be a convenient excuse to have the cycleway removed when building works begin, and they'll forget to put it back when they're finished

I think it looks OK but would be suited to Greenhill Road or surburbia not the CBD. 4 Levels, what a wasted opportunity.

I found this proposal on the JPE website, not sure if its a proper proposal or something for council use. But nonetheless, its very nicely done. Much better than the junk being produced at Bowden.

Covered two pages back. What's your issue with what's been done at Bowden?

Must have missed it sorry. Go down there, and you will see what i mean. One or two of the developments are 'ok', the others are just generic garbage. Surely we can come up with better designs in this town.

From AdelaideNow:
Five-storey apartment block on South Tce in Adelaide’s CBD gets approval

ANTHONY TEMPLETON CITY EDITOR
The Advertiser

An artist's impression of how the 60 South Terrace development will look when completed.

A FIVE-STOREY apartment block on South Terrace has been approved by the Development Assessment Panel.

The $9 million development includes 27 apartments, retail and commercial areas and 29 parking spaces within five car stackers.

The Sun Construction Australia development, on the corner of South Tce and Winifred St, also has a roof deck taking the total height of the building to six levels.

Project manager Sam Nicholls said construction could start within two months.

“We’d be hoping to start in mid to late April and it could take about 12 to 14 months (to finish building),” he said.

Deputy Lord Mayor Houssam Abiad, who sits on the panel, said the development ticked all the right boxes.

“It’s a really interesting multi-use development that has retail and commercial on (the lower levels) and 27 apartments,” he said.

“Importantly the development is sympathetic to neighbouring (buildings) and the Parklands.”

Mr Abiad said he believed there was a demand for more high-density residential developments in the CBD.

“There’s no doubt the demand (for residential developments) has increased in Adelaide since the city has started to become more vibrant,” he said.

“These type of developments play an important role in increasing the number of people who live in the CBD.”

The panel — which considers developments under $10 million in value — approved the apartment at its meeting on Monday, despite two maisonettes, built around 1900, needing to be demolished to make way for the apartment block

Variations to the existing proposal were recently approved by the DAC, hence I think any delays to construction relate to having to wait to have these variations approved.

This is in the paper today for tenders.
