Fortunately not. The ones in Hobart, Newcastle and possibly Brisbane are still standing.

The one in Brisbane is still standing, but it was converted into apartments a few years ago.

There's several CML buildings around, including many in rural towns.

Really? do you know in which towns? because I would like to make a compilation of mini CML buildings. I like the mini T&G buildings around regional Australia, and hope the regional CML buildings are just as cute!

They have boarded up some of the shops along King William Street (southern portion of the building). Hopefully this means some construction work will begin soon.

Got this from the JPE (Architect) website:
CML Hotel
King William Street, Adelaide, S.A.

A new hotel is being planned within the existing CML building that incorporates a new two storey addition to the western 1980's extension & creating an open air pool deck & basement food court.
So, it appears that the hideous 80's addition will also be redeveloped, no renders on their website unfortunately..

Likely operator is Rydges. Demolition (internal) contract has been let and completion is expected by December 2009.
160 rooms of 4.5 star standard with Asian Foodcourt in basement and Exclusively designed retail/cafe at ground floor plus function rooms etc on first floor.
Executive lounge on 13th and 14th levels with outdoor terraces overlooking city and unique heritage environment in this 1928 iconic building.

I would very much like to partake in cocktails in the 14th floor executive lounge.

This 4 star hotel is being created to suit the Rydges CML Brand

This project is now well under way with Marshall and Brougham as Managing Contractors.
Internal demolition has almost been completed and new works should start in September 2008.
This is another design by JPE. Watch out for our new website.

Joy, when the transformation is complete, will the CML Building's unique façade be floodlit at night?
