Found this little pic of the Octagon apartments. I think the name for it was "UniHouse Hindley" but maybe it has been renamed. This image is from late 2000 so it's quite old. Anyone know what's happening with this project?

Nice find! :) Isn't this suppose to be going up in the east end (rundle st/synagogue pl?).

That's probably the best looking render i've seen of it.

Council approved demolition of the old cinema. Haven't heard anything since.

Interesting that it's 9 levels in that render. I think it was 14 levels last I heard.

Nah mate, this is off Hindley, not Rundle.

The building you refer to is globe apartments.

Nice find mate. I've seen that pic before.

That's an old hotel proposal for the site, which has sadly been superseeded by this brutal student accomodation proposal that I hope never sees the light of day:

Would much rather the building in your render.

16 levels is the current proposal. And from what I've heard, the DA was approved, but the developers have sought and got a 12 month extension on their construction permit.

Hopefully it is just a case of a bad rendering.

Geez, no matter how hard I try to find something nice about that current render, I can't. It's butt ugly. Maybe the time extension will give the developers some extra time to make it look better.

According to that, it's meant to be 16 levels which is a lot taller than my render and even taller than the newer pic. If that's right then it should be over 40m right?

If that's the case... here's what a photoshop of the above render would look like with the extra levels.

where abouts is the location of this development? i know its city north-west... but just intrigued on the actual spot for it, because from what has been told its going to be a stickout in the sky for that area.

It's on Hindley Street mate, a few hunderd meters down from King William Street on the Northern side. There used to be a cinema on the site.

Well she's all set to go. There's a write up about it in today's real estate section. 30 apartments sold on the first day of release. Construction to start begining of next year.
