I noticed something on the fire hydrant cabinet today!
There was flaking paint on the sides that revealed what would've been a Foodland supermarket that took over Jewel!

So here's the sequence:

1. Jewel
2. Foodland
3. Franklins
4. Coles
5. Foodworks

Quick Update today 29th August - no pictures sorry but the ICA building at the back of Windsor Gardens shopping centre is now completely demolished. Rubble being removed.

The former Coles/Foodworks/etc shopping centre section has been completely gutted internally now can see straight though it from the front. Bunnings is still trading on the right hand side but not sure for how much longer!

Spoke to one of the staff at the existing Bunnings on the site.

The new store will be open this time next year, it will be two stories and the existing Bunnings will go back to the Franklins family estate because they wouldn't sell up to Bunnings.

I wonder what it'll become next...

BTW, Home Hardware from St Morris has moved into the former Direct Interiors as 'Direct Home Hardware'.
And soon, with two large hardware stores in the same suburb competing against each other,
peak hour traffic on North East Rd will be at a snail's pace and a number of local family owned businesses would be impacted.

My guess... They'll eventually sell up and Bunnings will turn it into an extended garden centre or timber yard.

I saw that! I didn't realise it was the St. Morris Home Hardware, I thought they'd gone bust.

I went for a bit of a drive yesterday to have a look at the site.
Will it be parking underneath and warehouse on top?
I was expecting to see a half completed warehouse. Seems like it is progressing rather slowly.

There will be parking underneath and very limited parking available at the front of the site, after all Franklins still own the site (plus parking) that Bunnings are currently occupying. My understanding was that the project was originally meant to be finished by April, I believe that has now been pushed back to June. Either way, they're cutting it fine.

Construction of the main building looks to already be well underway. The main building started to go up months ago.

Somehow that former Lloyds signboard must be saved.

Wtf is going on with this site? They started excavation on-site early last year with an estimated completion/opening in April of this year?

Most of the structural frame on the new Bunnings is up.

With out going into detail, there was quite a major stuff up. I've heard that it was very expensive for the party involved. This delayed the project by a few months. And then the rains came, turning the site into a mud bowl, further delaying the project.
