The State Maintained Roads dataset uses Port Wakefield Hwy north of the Northern Expressway, and Port Wakefield Rd south of it. Is that consistent with the mixed signs you saw?
Interesting that "officially" the name changes at NExy. I never thought that was the case. As @ChillyPhilly mentioned, I've never heard it referred to as Port Wakefield Highway.
I cant recall which sections of the road were referred to as Road or Highway on the signage.
At least one sign said Highway in November 2018. It's amazing what we find when we are looking for it This one seems to have changed by July 2013.

I wonder when Google maps will update with the road?
I looked into this, unless DPTI is a member of Google’s Base Map Partner Program, not a lot will happen until Google’s algorithms draw the new route. For example with t2t it took a few weeks to be properly formed in maps.

I was impressed that my TomTom GPS navigated using it on Sunday. I installed a map update earlier in the week, but it did not immediately use the new road after the update.

FWIW its on Bing, Openstreetmap and Apple Maps already, although Bing doesn't have the Bolivar exchange yet. Tomtom, Apple & openstreetmap appear to have some sort of data sharing agreement, so its likely someone edited openstreetmap & the data has since been shared with the others.

When traveling north, there is a sign saying port Wakefield road. But when you get to the exit, the next sign says port Wakefield highway. Also, when leaving the port expressway to join the NSM there is a sign that says start freeway.

Wow, that temporary lowered speed limit is painfully slow for a relatively simple stretch of freeway

It really is. Maybe I'm just poor at following the speed limit, but I found myself easily sneaking up to 100 a few times without really noticing.

I am in favour of the reduced speed limits for now. Just the other day I saw a guy move from the right lane to the Salisbury Highway off-ramp, crossing about 4 lanes of traffic in 1 single sweep.

Unfortunately no period of reduced speed limit will stop “Adelaide drivers” from continuing to make those kinds of manoeuvres.

first full working day using it.. bumper to bumper at 6:00am.

I actually completely forgot to take it home, but Port Wakefield Road might as well have had tumbleweeds rolling down it. There was no traffic at 5pm

I understand the reduced speed limits around the southern interchange. But north of Bolivar rd? Please, just put it up.

Northern interchange also has a reduced speed limit for the same good reason - people are used to not having a choice of direction, so aren't making sensible lane choices in advance, and suddenly realise that where they have been going for the last ten years is now an option that involves turning off to the left, instead of following the road round the curve then merging right.
