It's only a stupid route because it fills in the gaps they made when they took away the 550 and 552. People complained that they had to walk too far for the new 556 and 557 for over a year before they did something. As a filler route it does service some main route "remote" areas around Dernancourt. But yeah, I think they need to rethink what they've done, but not just get rid of it.

Or are you just talking about the "A" version?

Is there actually any real news on the decision to purchase new O-Bahn Artics?

I'm aware that different models have been trialled but is there actually a standout sucessor at this stage? The government seems to be keeping this one very 'Secret Squirrel'.

I'm talking about the 'A' version. The ordinary version goes past my house, 'A' doesn't. IIRC it was the 551 that went down that part of lower north east before, while the 550 and 552 serviced the area that the 'A' bus does. Ugh, if there is a different route, a different number is always helpful.

In fact, new O-Bahn artics are a little bit TOO EXPENSIVE! :2cents: Test buses have been using special parts including tyres, suspension, guidewheels and even special weight distributors! :P If you look carefully on rigid buses, the weight of the engine reduces the front wheel's contact with the road and O-Bahn track!

Not really part of the route shake-up, but one "i-Commute" bus started a trial today with free WiFi link, route & stop arrival information,
ABC news feed etc...

Internet commuter bus to be trialled in Adelaide
26/08/2009 4:19:00 PM
Australia's first commuter bus that allows passengers to surf the internet has been launched in Adelaide.

The i-Commute bus, which will be trialled over the next six months, also offers free gaming programs, real-time transport
information and news provided on two LCD screens.

There was a news story a few weeks ago stating that 70 new Scania artics have been purchased for the O-Bahn. They should be coming into service soon-ish.

Yep, 70 new artics, 50 as replacements for the old Mercs, and 20 extra ones.

Looking forward to the new Scanias too!
One of the Mercs was burned to a crisp last year! Possibly due to engine oil of incorrect grade!
Will the new artics look similar to the one below? (Image courtesy of Dave C)

I hope these are the new O-Bahn Artic's they look good. I thought that there was a rumor that they were underpowered and could only reach 90Km/h on the track?

The ICommute bus is being operated by SouthLink. Don't know which runs it is doing though.
