Police are investigating the theft of a concrete pump that was being used in the Darlington upgrade.

T2T lowered South Rd opens tomorrow at 10am in stages. 60 km/h for a f/n, then 80 km/h, saving up to 10mins off the commute.

Thanks mate. I would’ve thought they would publish that more widely, haven’t seen that on the T2T website mentioned.I Follow PAFC wrote:T2T lowered South Rd opens tomorrow at 10am in stages. 60 km/h for a f/n, then 80 km/h, saving up to 10mins off the commute.

Interesting doesn’t which part will open but imagine it will be a couple of lanes, rather than a section.

And of course they had to include a reference to some bakery that's trying to use T2T as an excuse for their business incompetenceI Follow PAFC wrote: ↑Fri Sep 28, 2018 12:00 pmTorrens to Torrens part of South Rd upgrade to open this weekend.

I think it will be open in it's entirety - but will close for a couple of upcoming weekends to complete the resurfacing of the surface roads.

Bit unfair really.
I live around the corner from said bakery and I can confirm that for long stretches of the 3 year construction period when the road on which the bakery is situated was closed to traffic there was a very noticeable drop in patronage for all Queen Street businesses. When the street was open it was difficult to get to due to surrounding road closures. If you did manage to get there the street was dusty, dirty and full of heavy works traffic - not ideal for the businesses along this strip most of which are fairly heavily based on outdoor dining. They were bustling before and they're beginning to be bustling again now but 2-3 years of severe disruption is a lot for any small business to weather.
I'm sure there are other factors at play here, but the T2T works most definitely did adversely affect this and other businesses in the area for a long period of time.

Ch10 news just said: North-bound lanes at 10am and then Southbound lanes a few hours later.Howie wrote:Interesting doesn’t which part will open but imagine it will be a couple of lanes, rather than a section.

Big infrastructure investments are usually under-valued and & over-criticized while in the planning stage. It's much easier to envision the here and now costs and inconveniences, and far more difficult to imagine fully the eventual benefits.

Thanks just saw that on Ten News. Sounds good so by afternoon we’ll have both directions going.Kasey771 wrote:Ch10 news just said: North-bound lanes at 10am and then Southbound lanes a few hours later.Howie wrote:Interesting doesn’t which part will open but imagine it will be a couple of lanes, rather than a section.

Driving through the new T2T is great!
Seems they opened up the southbound lanes first, and then northbound lanes after midday some time.
Looking forward to the project completion with landscaping and surface roads completed!

Have driven it and it was first class. Only things which need improving are the Southbound exit to Brickworks goes from 3 lanes to 2 lanes and back to a 3 lanes within 200m. Also the Northbound exit having to stop at the traffic lights at Pym St was a pain. In busy/peak times it will be a bottle neck with traffic banking up. Get rid of the lights now and make Pym St left hand turn only. One last thing, anyone know if there can/will be speed cameras in the lowered motorway? I hope not as the speed limit was & will be very easy to go over.
