went through the Darlington upgrade site today and travelled in both directions and it really is now starting to look as if all the big structural work is done and it's now mainly finishing off.

I guess it's just frustrating now that there is no final plan for the next section and the can has just been kicked further along the road with no decision until mid next year.

my question is would it work if they continued north but doing it in smaller sections when compared to T2T for example. even if they say went from tonsley to daws rd which is about 1km or so? is this even feasible to do??

There is a small project to start after Darlington finishes. It’s the Flagstaff Road build to complete a fourth lane, making it a permanent two-way dual carriageway (as for the 800 metres of the road’s 3.3 km length, there are only three lanes.)
Potentially this project could tide workers over from say mid/late next year to hopefully continue into a major project for the next section late 2021/early 2022 which I expect before the next election work will have begun.

I'm guessing work has shut down on this site now?

There's another site called EagleView (https://maps.au.eagleview.com) which is similar to Nearmap. They update photos a few times a year.

There has been some serious concrete buckling at the pedestrian overpass just south of Hawker Street.
It is on the ground level just at the entrance of the eastern side of the crossing.
It looks like some serious expansion of concrete!
I only noticed it on a run last night when I almost tripped over chunks of concrete that were jutting up about 6 inches.
Would say they will have to replace a large section of the footpath around here.
I’ll get a photo soon.

We really got screwed over with the T2T - they have done everything on the cheap here compared to Darlington...

A wall fell down on the Darlington project. I don't recall hearing drama when the Northern Expressway was getting built

Has the steel bridge expanded in the heat past the limits of the expansion joints/provisions?

Has expanded way past the expansion joints.
Can you tell if the issue is that the bridge has stretched, or that the trench has narrowed? Adding longer expansion things (rollers or whatever rather than just compressible buffer) might be relatively easy, compared to what might be needed if the top of the trench is not as wide as when it was dug, which could indicate problems like have happened at Darlington.

Photos.
Wouldn't normally be worried with cracking of paths however this is only about 6 months old and is around the bridge
