Slightly related. I nearly got squashed by a Singapore Airlines 747 today flying low over thebarton. I'm not sure how often they fly 747s into Adelaide but this one took me by surprise.

SIA operates 747s as freighters on Tuesdays and Saturdays. At what time was this flight?

Cheers

That flight is scheduled for 20:05 (8:05pm). So I guess it would have been slightly early. It departs at 21:35 (9:35pm). The other SIA flights on Tuesdays are in the morning at 09:05 (arrival from Singapore) and 13:05 (1:05pm departure for Singapore) on a B777-200.

Cheers

Call me Mr Obvious, but they always look like they're flying closer to ground than the typical 737s and A320s that land because they are larger though they would be flying at a similar height to other landing planes. It's just the impression you get from ground level.

Yeah I agree. Still I didn't expect to see a 747 that close up. It must be touching the roofs of houses by the time it nears the airport. I can't imagine what an A380 would look like at the same distance.

Ho, it was around 7.30pm but I didn't check the clock at the moment I saw it so it might have been closer to 8pm. Thanks for the info though.

i know what you mean..My folks used to own the Toms supermarket (before it became an IGA and later a bottle shop) on marion road in richmond.

As i kid i could see the planes come in to land (as its right over the flight path) and ide swear that i could hit them with a tennis ball or something..I think i even tried once but got nowhere near!

I would love to be at that location to see the under-belly of an A380!

I was sitting at the Griffins Head pub last night and noticed a Qantas 743 fly overhead about 7ish. It has been a LONG time since we have seen Qantas fly this stock into Adelaide. Is this because of the police and fire games I wonder.

i saw it too, compared to the usual 737 we see in our skies when i saw it, it looked huge. I don't usually look up when i hear plane overhead but the noise was louder then usual and i looked up and saw a huge 747 overhead, was so cool.

Sorry Pistol but did you mean a 747? I can't seem to find any info on a 743.

Sorry 743 is the abreviation for a 747-300. I was a bit of an airline nerd when I was younger!
