The City of Whyalla has been successful in securing a $300,000 grant in round three of the Regional Development Australia Fund to upgrade the Whyalla Airport terminal.

This project will look to update and modernise the current Whyalla Airport terminal building. Whyalla City Council mayor Jim Pollock said the $300,000 was part of a grant process whereby the council was required to match the grant money dollar for dollar.
"That $600,000 will go towards the upgrade of the terminal," Mr Pollock said.

The upgrade will incorporate an extension to the passenger lounge, development of a small business travellers' area, and a new undercover baggage collection area.
