What about the Gawler Glider strip? If you look in your up-to-date street directory, you'll see the expressway's route going over a portion of it! :o

I believe that the strip will be shortened.

The airfield is a former WW2 landing strip, now used for ultralights and gliders, occasionally used by the CFS water bombers/helicopters during bushfires. That last one is rather important, there isn't a suitable airfield this close to the Northern Adelaide Hills anywhere else.

From what I've read on one of the Transport SA leaflets, the airstrip will be fixed by transferring some land to replace the lost section. Will still be down to one runway from two.

When I visit my grandparents who live in a rural town called Greenock, I go down Main North Road onto Gawler Bypass Road and then onto Sturt Highway! Looking forward to the Northern Expressway's completion! Would this be quicker than the said above?^ :?

Considering Redwood Park is quite far to the east of Port Wakefield Road, then no, not really.
