I too have always wondered how much better this building could have been for its time. If it where a 30-40 level building it may have looked quite cool, similar to some of the 90's high-rise in Melbourne.

There is actually a building very much similar to this in Melbourne, just a much taller version. Though I cannot remember what it's called.

Rialto Towers on Collins Street. Built around the same time, 1988/1989.

I have always found Citi Centre to be grossly underwhelming when viewed from the intersection of Rundle and Pulteney Streets. For such a high profile location, the podium should be at least 3 levels and eye catching. The food court isn't much better.

The office tower is quite nice however. It just needs to be double or triple the height.

I tend to agree. With the sad state of the current podium; it'd have made more sense to have kept the shell of the building that use to sit on this site and built the 'high-rise' building inside. At-least then it would have some character...

Either way, they should bulldoze the current podium and start again; this time with a much more suitable floor plan, so the building isn't just a food court...

No not the Rialto Towers. Though the glass is very much similar.

Actually, I think this building reminds me of some of the 80s-90s architecture in the outermost fringe suburbs of Sydney, it would fit in well out in Campbelltown or Penrif esp with its dingy arcade and food court

On another note, whilst I don't enjoy or support fast-food eateries at all; I can't understand why McDonald's never thought to set up shop along Rundle Street somewhere... I can think of two locations that would be really suitable. One being where American Apparel are, the other where Bnkr is (the old Sanity location on the corner of the mall and Pultney), whilst I recognise they're already down that way in an arcade, they don't stay open late and their location is quite hidden and small. Thoughts?

Macca's used to have a Rundle Mall store - opposite the Myer Centre. I can't remember when it closed - maybe in the 90s when they opened the one in the Citi Centre? It was a small store with seating upstairs. I guess it wasn't profitable?

I think we have enough Macca's in the CBD - Myer Centre, Citi Centre, Hindley Street plus the one on West Terrace.

My understanding is the most profitable stores are the ones with a busy drive through. I would also guess the food court locations are more profitable than stand alone stores without a drive through?

And I'm hoping that at the E.S. Wigg & Sons building on Grenfell St next to Medibank won't be another Maccas because if so, HJ at City Cross will be put to absolute shame.

Didn't see that Movenpick ice cream store coming to Adelaide. Interesting to see it open on Hindley and not Rundle or Jetty Rd.

I guess with the lane way bars they are aiming to catch some of the crowd. How long til we see a Movenpick Barossa Valley resort?

Actually Ben, the Adelaide store was closed end of trade Saturday. The decision was made Friday. Not too sure how 'The Scooter Guy' found out as the staff were only informed Friday afternoon.

Disappointing, as I liked G-Star.

However they now only make clothes for skinny dickhead guys (slim fit ugh), and there is about a million times better selection on online stores.
