The fourth level of the St Andrews building on South Terrace Hutt Street corner is almost finished, which means the developer won the battle with Anne Moron.

I think that's art.....ghs wrote:Interesting piece of architecture :

Re: News & Discussion: Low/Mid-Rise CBD Development
It's a bit too artistic in my opinion, something a bit more conservative would look better.
Re: News & Discussion: Low/Mid-Rise CBD Development
Art is purely subjective. Whilst I agree it could look perhaps a bit more aesthetically pleasing (though I can't provide a solution as to how) I nevertheless like what they've done with what could have otherwise been yet another boring blank wall. It livens the place up and gives people something to look at. Also, it's good art if it's being discussed & debated.

The ACC will impose their usual height, bulk, shadowing, etc judgments on this, because they can. Will wrote:Now for sale on realestate.com:Will wrote:An application has been lodged with the ACC for demolition of the current structure at 3-7 Hurtle Square and for the subsequent erection of a 6 level residential building containing 28 apartments. Should be ok, street frontage 3 sides. Commercial buildings on the 4th side already fully occupying the block. Naff all shadowing concerns.wilkiebarkid wrote:The ACC will impose their usual height, bulk, shadowing, etc judgments on this, because they can.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

If anyone wants to know what is behind the scaffolding on that building site in Coglin Street, and wants a laugh, go and have a look. The existing building was increased from 2 levels to about 5, and the scaffolding is off and wow - 1960s Birmingham eat your heart out. This is so bad, that its remotely cool

As indicated in the Sofitel thread, I thought I'd make an official post, about this project.
Australian Fashion Labels will redevelop the heritage listed Kelvin House at 233 North Terrace in an $11 million redevelopment, which will involve the addition of an additional 2 levels, and which will increase the height of the building to 34m.
