Excellent. Prominent and pretty location. No neighbour overshadowing concerns. Bring it on! renders please...

Hopefully sells fast and a height increase requested.
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

I think this should be rejected, the city has more than enough car parking FFS!

Considering the renewal efforts on Leigh St, Peel St, Bank St, Gilbert Place, and Gresham St which are all about inviting more pedestrians into more people friendly areas, this will be inviting more cars into an already congested city street and to have more cars crossing over such a busy pedestrian route between Rundle Mall and the Railway Station is a terrible idea. Too many idiot drivers think they can just zoom in and out of this place and expect pedestrians to give way.

My thoughts are this carpark is only going to get more and more popular. It already has most spaces already reserved (ie leased) and think it's used by the police, car rentals companies and hotel guests (all nearby). Many of the buildings in this general area have no parking whatsoever and while I understand the benefits of public transport, many users of this carpark may rely on cars and for the reasons mentioned public transport isn't practical. Also probably the busiest time for the street ie 1am-6am, public transport isn't even available or an option.

Grant Thornton to move into new state HQ building on Frome St

A BRAND new office complex in Adelaide’s CBD is to be home to an international professional services firm for at least the next 10 years.

The decade long deal will see Grant Thornton move from its outer metropolitan base along Greenhill Rd into Emmett Group’s landmark 170 Frome Street development.

Grant Thornton will has struck a lease agreement to occupy more than a third of the office space within the near 3,900 sqm East End building following a deal negotiated by commercial sales agents CBRE director Andrew Bahr.

“We are pleased to be a part of the continued evolution of the Adelaide CBD, providing our people with state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative workspace as we focus on the growth and financial success of our clients,” said Grant Thornton’s Adelaide managing partner Dean Marsh.

The building is at the intersection of Frome Street and Flinders due for completion by December 2016.

The building is being developed by privately owned property development and construction company Emmett Property which has an extensive portfolio of commercial developments throughout the Adelaide CBD and beyond.

“We set out to attract fringe CBD occupiers and it is satisfying when your vision becomes reality. The convenient location and quality of the offering helped secure such a strong tenant,” said Emmett Group director Nick Emmett.

The four-storey Frome Street building has a total let-able area of circa 3,900sqm and comprises two floors of office space, ground floor retail and first floor parking for 44 cars.

It will include the latest in design and environmental features in addition to large open floors, excellent natural light and on-site parking.

CBRE’s Mr Bahr said there was strong interest in the remaining space with tenancies from 460sqm to 1,473sqm still available.

Its location on Frome Street — a key north-south pathway, providing fantastic staff amenity and access to public transport — was a huge selling point he said.

“The Grant Thornton commitment is an extremely positive sign for the Adelaide market, which highlights the current tenant focus on securing the highest quality of office accommodation,” Mr Bahr said.

“We’re finding that flight to quality is more prevalent than ever before, with office space seen as a key consideration in the attraction and retention of staff.”

Demolition has started on this one.

The latest inductee into Adelaide Ugliest Building's Hall of Fame. Here's a site I wouldn't mind seeing flattened again in 60 years when I'm in my 80's.

just wanna say that although a bit 'whitish', the Ergo housing project on the northside of Sturt Street is a great development and the way they have done the public thoroughfare to the markets is well done. The city council I believe had a lot of influence on the design of this so good on them for this one, especially considering it used to be a surface level carpark for many years

ah, I walk past this down Halifax each day and had a hunch that once the 2 office buildings were sold and emptied of tennants, there would be apartments. The one storey offices looks so horrible being on a nice square so anything being built is better that what exists

I'm really caught in two minds on this. It's awesome compared to what's there now and it's great to see Forme Projex can break the six storey barrier (their tallest effort to date is the one just finishing on Gilbert St, which is actually lower than the ACC's "policy height" of 8 storeys if you can believe it). But yeah, given it surrounds basically our nicest 'park' square surely something a bit more impressive could be offered? I get the reality of needing sales etc but couldn't we aim for 9 or 10 storeys given what is built here will stand for probably a century...
