Rename a suburb
Re: Rename a suburb
Devon Park needs to be renamed as its always confused with Davoren Park and no one wants that.

Different back story but same problem with Morphett Vale and Morphettville.Ben wrote:Devon Park needs to be renamed as its always confused with Davoren Park and no one wants that.
Re: Rename a suburb
Some of the bigger suburbs that almagamated three suburbs into one should devolve back into smaller ones. The size of some areas is ridiculous.

Prospect is a good example that could be divided into three smaller ones; you'd just tinker with the name a bit into like Prospect Gardens, Prospect Park, Prospect South.
I find that the smaller suburbs, like Bowden, Croydon, Hindmarsh, Thebarton, etc. all have a really strong sense of community pride and identity because of the smaller geographical scale of those areas.

My little section of Croydon apparently used to be called Wolseley.[Shuz] wrote:I find that the smaller suburbs, like Bowden, Croydon, Hindmarsh, Thebarton, etc. all have a really strong sense of community pride and identity because of the smaller geographical scale of those areas.
I plan to campaign for the immediate reinstatement of Wolseley at which point, presumably, I will be crowned mayor and given an ivory stick with a golden ball on top.

Re: Rename a suburb
I agree, let's give it a more South Australian touch and rename it "Fritz Park".Ben wrote:Devon Park needs to be renamed as its always confused with Davoren Park and no one wants that.
Re: Rename a suburb
Not really to do with the size of those suburbs, more to do with community groups in those suburbs who've put the work in.[Shuz] wrote:Some of the bigger suburbs that almagamated three suburbs into one should devolve back into smaller ones. The size of some areas is ridiculous.

Re: Rename a suburb
The Morialta Residents Association want to change their section of Rostrevor to Morialta.
Re: Rename a suburb
Cut the 'park' from the plethora of suburbs we have named 'Something Park'. Most of which have ironically little or any quality park space.

Re: Rename a suburb
How about selling off naming rights on a lease of X amount of years for suburbs?
