There's that (tallest building bragging rights) but I think the threat of a new construction blocking the North-facing views and potentially jeopardising sales may have something to do with it. As mentioned earlier in this thread they have already initiated a legal play to stall anything happening too quickly there.

I walked past earlier today and I was surprised how small the footprint is. It will be the new tallest but its not going to have much of an impact. It will be built on a postage stamp lol.

You're obviously looking at the site of the rhino room which is only one third of the site. Maybe check your facts before making such comments. The rest of the buildings will be demolished late September/October.

The new plans are on the DAC website with information on the height increase..... its a whopping 50cm bringing it up to 134m

We would still have the traffic problem coming off the laneway onto Frome, and miss out on having this a mostly pedestrian laneway (shared zone). I hope this encourages the Rundle Street tenancies that back onto Tavistock Ln to clean up and activate their rear entrances (stop snickering you boys in the back!)

Looks like that church is still up for sale, though the sale signs have been removed from the Budget Cars site opposite the road.

I imagine they somehow have to engineer a solution to the car park entrance early on in the piece. There's been no indication from Uni Adelaide (who have an agreement for annual discount parking there) that it will close during construction.

So after more then 30 years since the completion of the state debt building we finally have a new tallest in progress.
Honestly I never thought this day would come lol.
