Have a look at it on a per capita basis. Assuming Melbourne is 3 times bigger then Adelaide.
150 cranes in Melbourne divided by 3 equals
50 cranes. But we don't have 50 cranes here in Adelaide. We don't even have 20.
As a city, we are in all sorts of trouble.
Have a look at per capita basis. New York = 28 Cranes with 20 Million People, Adelaide = 16 with 1.5 Million people. For New York to be tracking the same as us they would need to have about 360 cranes. If you think we're in trouble New York must be the next Detroit. By the way, the number of cranes don't always correspond with economic activity; how many cranes do you think will be needed to build 50bn worth of submarines?
I'm also interested in how you propose to 'get real' in this city. I doubt that you will answer the question though because you have no answers.
We can get real by replacing adelaide city council and the state government as they are both hopeless.
We can get real by opening supermarkets after 5pm on the weekends. We're not living in the 1980's anymore.
We can get real by reducing the cost of doing business in this state, having the highest unemployment level in the country is not something to be proud of.

The very rare moment, when I actually agree with you on something.

Wrong.
South Australia unemployment rate is 5.7%, .1% above the national average and below that of Tasmania (6%), Western Australia (5.9%) and Victoria (6.1%) and equal with Queensland.
Phasing out of payroll tax over the next 4 years and our cheaper labour cost compared to the eastern states will make SA the lowest taxing Australian state for business according to KPMG.
As for opening up supermarkets after 5, couldn't agree more but that is hardly going to change the economics of the state is it?
Is this seriously the best you can come up with after all your griping?

The crane at the student apartment building on North Tce is coming down this weekend. Only the tower sections remain late Saturday afternoon. Also the reason why the second tram track has not been installed yet is because the mobile crane jacks would have caused too large "point" loads on a new track. The crane wheels are off the ground and the crane is only supported by the jacks.

Yeah I noticed today that it was being used.
Perhaps it's a case of since it's still there...

So I’m guessing that the crane will go to Realm later on?
